Afterschool Director

SHADES of Development is a nonprofit afterschool program providing learning-focused educational programming for students across 14 schools in Knox County. ๐Ÿ“šโœจ

We're seeking a Site Director for Mill Creek Elementary School to lead a high-quality afterschool program that helps children learn, grow, and thrive.

At SHADES of Development, the Site Director is the heart of each program. The quality of care, learning experiences, and relationships built with students, families, and staff all begin with strong leadership. We're looking for someone who is organized, compassionate, creative, and committed to making a positive impact every day.

Responsibilities extend beyond those listed below and may evolve based on program needs.

โœ… Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a qualifying child or education-related field
  • Leadership and management experience with the ability to coach and develop staff
  • Ability to provide a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate afterschool program
  • Understanding of child development and best practices in afterschool settings
  • Ability to effectively work with children and communicate with families
  • Experience maintaining program billing and basic accounting tasks
  • Ability to build strong relationships with parents and school personnel
  • Computer proficiency, including Google Workspace

๐Ÿ’ผ Hours & Compensation

  • Full-time, salaried, exempt position
  • Starting salary: $42,360โ€“$45,360, based on education and experience
  • Typical schedule: Mondayโ€“Friday, 10:00 AMโ€“6:15 PM
  • Occasional adjusted or extended hours may be required for school events, trainings, deadlines, or other program needs
