About Us:

House of Pancakes Academy is a San Diego–based nonprofit led by NFL veteran Corey Liuget. We support youth development through football training, mentorship, and community events. We also host and produce podcast episodes in collaboration with Striking with Stevie Johnson, highlighting athlete stories and community impact.

Position Overview:

The Athlete Experience & Community Intern will play a key role in shaping how athletes, families, and coaches engage with House of Pancakes Academy. This role is ideal for someone passionate about youth development, community-building, and creating meaningful participant experiences.

Interns will help strengthen the Academy’s connection with its community by designing engagement opportunities, collecting feedback, and supporting communication strategies. You'll collaborate with outreach and partnership teams to elevate the voices of athletes and their families, and ensure programming reflects the needs and values of the community.

 

 

Responsibilities:

- Create and distribute surveys to gather feedback from athletes, parents, and coaches

- Collect and organize testimonials for use in marketing, outreach, or grant materials

- Support planning of online or local engagement campaigns (e.g., community events, recognition posts)

- Collaborate with the Strategic Partnerships and Digital Engagement teams to build audience trust and satisfaction

-Assist in creating feedback loops to ensure continuous program improvement

-Help identify trends and themes in participant responses to guide future outreach

 

Requirements:

 - Interest in youth development, sports, and community engagement

-Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

-Organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage feedback data

-Basic knowledge of tools like Google Forms, Canva, or similar is a plus

-Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

-Comfortable communicating with athletes, families, and coaches in a professional tone

-Bonus: Experience in customer service, community outreach, or school leadership roles

 

Academic Credit & SLA Info:

If your school requires an SLA, you are responsible for initiating the Service-Learning Agreement through your academic program. House of Pancakes Academy currently has an active SLA with the Fowler College of Business at SDSU, which streamlines the process for SDSU students seeking internship credit.

Communication & Accountability Requirement

Because this is a remote-first internship, consistent communication is required.

All interns must complete check-ins every:

  • Tuesday
  • Thursday
  • Sunday

Check-ins must be submitted via text, email, or the designated team communication channel and must include:

  • Current progress
  • Completed tasks
  • Upcoming availability
  • Any issues, questions, or support needs
  • Failure to maintain consistent communication may result in removal from the program.
