Nauticus Education Early Childhood Intern (Seasonal)
The Nauticus Early Childhood Education Intern will focus on engaging our youngest visitors at Nauticus through formal and informal programming such as Toddler Time. This intern will get experience with these visitors through formal programs (Toddler Time), early childhood groups that book field trips with us, and museum visitors. Our intern will also play a key role in helping on the backend to make sure these programs are successful.
The intern will work closely with our Toddler Time Coordinator to create and execute Toddler Time. Held twice a month at Nauticus, this engaging program is full of interactive and educational activities that spark curiosity through music movement, cultural exploration, and most importantly, play! In addition, the intern will assist us in creating and implementing formal programs and assist in marketing the programs.
Must be able to positively engage with children and families in a workplace atmosphere.
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, bend, and reach above the head
Must receive a City of Norfolk background check (18+) or provide proof of military security clearance along with other Nauticus New Volunteer Onboarding Steps- Orientation, Handbook, Volunteer Agreement Form, Selfie and Start Date Assignment with Department Supervisor.
Toddler times are held twice a month; typically the last Wednesday and Saturday. Formal early childhood education programs will be held on various days throughout the week.
Internship Schedule: Weekdays and Weekends; Up to 40 Hours/week;150 hours total.
Dates and shifts can be flexible based on the availability of the Education Team and Intern.
Reports to Education Manager and Toddler Time Coordinator.
Training will occur on your start date.
All Nauticus internships are unpaid and no expectation of compensation.
