AWS Data Engineer

Location: Remote (USA) | Seattle, WA Preferred
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions in AWS. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building enterprise-grade data pipelines, implementing real-time data integration solutions, and supporting cloud-native architectures. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and analytics teams to modernize and optimize data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using AWS services and modern data engineering practices.
  • Build data ingestion frameworks to collect, process, and synchronize data from multiple on-premises and cloud-based systems.
  • Implement and support Change Data Capture (CDC) processes for near real-time data movement and synchronization.
  • Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) for database migration, replication, and continuous data integration.
  • Design and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka, Amazon SNS, Amazon SQS, and EventBridge.
  • Develop ETL/ELT solutions using AWS Glue, Python, and PySpark.
  • Create and maintain enterprise Data Lake solutions supporting analytics and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and optimize data processing applications using Python libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data workflows using AWS CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail.
  • Support migration and modernization of legacy data platforms and pipelines to AWS.
  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases including SQL Server, DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements, architecture, and integration strategies.
  • Develop technical documentation for data models, pipeline designs, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure data quality, scalability, security, and operational excellence across all solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Integration, or Cloud Data Platforms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS-based data services and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience implementing CDC and event-driven data processing solutions.
  • Expertise in SQL performance tuning and database design.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with large-scale enterprise data migration projects.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience supporting analytics, reporting, and data science platforms.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range Minimum: $ 78000 per year

Pay Range Maximum: $ 125,000 per year
