About the Opportunity

We are seeking a vigilant and professional Security Officer to join a large manufacturing company in the Ypsilanti, MI area. This position is responsible for enforcing policies and procedures related to the safety and security of company property and personnel. The role includes monitoring building entrances, exits, and grounds, reporting violations, and assisting with day-to-day security issues.

Required Qualifications

- Law Enforcement or Security experience required
- Basic Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Report writing skills
- No more than 3 jobs in the past 10 years

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain safety and security of premises, products, and personnel
- Review security footage and monitor activity
- Monitor and escort visitors and contractors as required
- Monitor intrusion and fire alarm functionality
- Run, update, and write reports (key scan, security, incident, activity, alarm, lottery ticket shredding)
- Provide assistance to employees, customers, contractors, visitors, and vendors
- Manage employee badges (new, replacements, temps)
- Perform new employee, visitor, contractor, and vendor orientations and authorizations
- Process all criminal records checks
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Ability to distinguish right from wrong and detect suspicious activity and behavior
- Ability to manage stress in response to critical situations
- Ability to identify emergencies and know when to contact law enforcement
- Ability to make independent and sound decisions within proper policy and procedures
- Ability to analyze information and solve problems
- Ability to work alone with limited supervision in a diverse environment
- Ability to maintain accurate records and write clear, concise reports
- Ability to work with all levels of organizations in a courteous and respectful manner
