We're looking for an enthusiastic American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor to introduce students to the fundamentals of ASL through an engaging, interactive, and inclusive learning experience.

 

Students will have the opportunity to build practical signing skills while developing an appreciation for communication, accessibility, and Deaf culture. Through hands-on activities, conversation practice, games, and real-world scenarios, you'll help make ASL approachable, useful, and fun.

🎯 What You'll Do

  • Lead engaging and interactive ASL sessions
  • Introduce students to foundational signs, vocabulary, fingerspelling, and basic conversational skills
  • Help students practice ASL through games, activities, conversations, and real-world scenarios
  • Teach students how to communicate common phrases and everyday concepts using ASL
  • Introduce age-appropriate elements of Deaf culture, communication, and accessibility
  • Demonstrate signs clearly and provide supportive feedback
  • Encourage students to practice without fear of making mistakes
  • Adapt instruction to different learning styles, abilities, and levels of experience
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
  • Encourage participation, curiosity, and confidence
  • Monitor student progress and celebrate their accomplishments
  • Maintain an organized and positive classroom environment
  • Communicate professionally with program coordinators and school staff
  • Arrive prepared, dependable, and ready to make ASL an enjoyable learning experience

You don't need to be a traditional classroom teacher. We're looking for someone who can make ASL approachable, engaging, and meaningful.

 

We're looking for someone with:

  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language
  • Genuine passion for ASL, communication, accessibility, or Deaf culture
  • Ability to demonstrate and explain signs clearly
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and an encouraging personality
  • Comfort leading and engaging groups of students
  • Ability to adapt activities for different learning styles
  • Reliable, organized, and professional work habits
  • Respect for Deaf culture and inclusive communication practices

 

Prior experience in ASL instruction, interpreting, Deaf education, teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camps, or youth programs is a plus—but not required.
