Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive art curricula tailored to elementary school students, integrating various artistic mediums and techniques.
- Facilitate hands-on art projects that promote creativity, fine motor skills, and cultural understanding, ensuring lessons are adaptable to different learning styles.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive reinforcement and clear expectations, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Assess student progress regularly by analyzing performance data, providing constructive feedback, and adjusting instruction to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to integrate art into interdisciplinary lessons and support overall student development.
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, upcoming projects, and ways to support learning at home.
- Maintain organized records of lesson plans, student work, attendance, and performance data in compliance with educational regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in classroom teaching within elementary schools, including classroom management and lesson planning expertise.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development and implementation aligned with educational standards for arts education.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for tracking student progress and managing instructional materials.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special education needs, adapting lessons accordingly.
- Ability to utilize learning technology tools effectively to enhance instruction and engage students of diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, parents, and administrative staff.
- Knowledge of literacy education, math integration in arts activities, and standardized testing procedures related to arts programs.
- Understanding of behavioral management strategies to foster a positive classroom atmosphere.
- Experience working in private or Montessori school settings is a plus.
- Passion for teaching music or integrating musical elements into art lessons is desirable.
Candidate must be certified in Art K-12
