Mechanical Engineer – Intern (Summer 2027)
ThermalTech Engineering is a full-service engineering firm. We provide consulting services to Fortune 100 and 500 companies throughout the United States. Our team of over 150 members is growing! We are looking for summer interns interested in engineering design & analysis for industrial facilities.

- Upon returning to school, you will have a greater appreciation and application of engineering. Our interns occasionally tailor their coursework based on their experience at ThermalTech.
- You will be challenged. Our interns are assigned to projects on their first day. We rely on our interns to execute projects.
Applicable Interests:
- Strong academic performance in an ABET-accredited Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program (a minimum of 3.3 is required for consideration).
- Experience/coursework and interest in complex utility systems including chillers, HVAC units, boilers, energy economization, etc. in both regulated and non-regulated industries.
- Interest in developing engineering drawings, equipment selection, and hands-on fieldwork.
Throughout your assignment, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the following skills:
- Conduct fieldwork and troubleshooting for complex utility systems (steam, chilled water, compressed air, HVAC, refrigeration, and processing).
- Use a laser scanner.
- Model and lay out piping and duct systems in 3-D AutoCAD.
- Develop engineering drawings through AutoCAD drafting.
- Learn design philosophies and strategies for efficient system operation.
- Perform energy analysis and savings calculations and conduct facility audits.
- Provide construction support.
- Meet with clients, contractors, and colleagues throughout the design and construction process. Build and maintain long-term relationships.
