Student Grader for Business 300: Career & Professional Development
The Student Grader provides instructional support for the Lubar College of Business, Career & Professional Development course (BUS 300) by evaluating assignments using established rubrics, tracking student progress, and assisting with course administration. This role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, confidentiality, and an understanding of career readiness concepts such as resume development, job search strategies, networking, interviewing, and transferable skills.
Duties include
- Grade student assignments, reflections, discussion posts, and career-related projects according to instructor-provided rubrics and guidelines.
- Provide timely, constructive, and professional feedback to students.
- Maintain accurate records of grading and assignment completion.
- Monitor assignment submissions and communicate grading updates to the instructor.
- Assist with reviewing resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and career planning documents based on established evaluation criteria.
- Identify trends or common areas of student difficulty and share observations with the instructor.
- Support course organization within Canvas.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and academic information.
- Attend periodic meetings with the instructor(s) to discuss grading standards, workload, and course needs.
- Perform other course-support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing. If a current undergraduate student, must have completed BUS 300 with a B+ or better.
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to apply grading rubrics consistently.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and learning management systems.
- Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to confidentiality.
Hours/scheduling
- All hours are in-person
- Approximate hours per week: 5-10 hours (during office hours)
- No hours during summer/winter breaks
