Internship Description:
Berger Commercial Realty Corp. is seeking a motivated student interested in gaining hands-on experience in commercial real estate. This paid internship is designed to provide exposure to the day-to-day operations of a commercial real estate management company, including property operations, accounting and finance support, asset analysis, tenant and vendor coordination, brokerage, and marketing-related projects. The intern will work closely with property management, accounting, and leadership team members to develop practical business skills and a stronger understanding of the commercial real estate industry.
INTERNSHIP FOCUS AREAS
- Accounting/Finance: Assist with invoice review, expense tracking, budget support, rent roll updates, financial reporting, and basic account reconciliations.
- Real Estate Management: Support property managers with tenant communication, vendor coordination, work order tracking, property files, and operational follow-up.
- Asset Analysis: Assist with market research, property performance summaries, lease abstract review, occupancy reporting, and data collection related to commercial assets.
- Marketing: Help prepare property information, update marketing materials, support listing presentations, organize property photos or descriptions, and assist with social media or outreach projects.
- Participate in special projects based on the intern’s area of study, business needs, and learning goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with administrative and project-based tasks that support commercial property management operations.
- Help gather, organize, and maintain property, tenant, vendor, financial, and marketing information.
- Support preparation of spreadsheets, reports, presentations, and internal summaries.
- Communicate professionally with internal team members and, when appropriate, assist with tenant or vendor follow-up under supervision.
- Attend team meetings, property-related discussions, or site visits as assigned to gain practical industry exposure.
- Complete assigned projects in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Open to undergraduate students pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field; juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply.
- Strong interest in commercial real estate, property management, investment analysis, finance, marketing, or business operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with ARGUS, Yardi, or similar real estate/property management software is helpful but not required.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, professional, and willing to learn in a fast-paced business environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle business information responsibly.
- Previous office, customer service, accounting, marketing, or real estate-related experience is helpful but not required.
INTERNSHIP TERM
- This is a paid internship and is not limited to academic credit or accreditation requirements.
- Internship may be offered during the fall, spring, or summer semester based on business needs and student availability.
- Schedule may be part-time and flexible around class schedules, subject to department needs.
- Interns are expected to commit to approximately 15–20 hours per week during the semester, with scheduling flexibility based on class schedules and business needs.
- Internship may be extended for an additional semester and may lead to a permanent hired position based on performance, business needs, and mutual interest.
