Power Electronics Engineer Staff

The Staff Power Electronics Engineer will set the technical direction for power conversion, drive complex system tradeoffs, and serve as the internal expert that other engineers rely on across R&D, product, and manufacturing. This individual will own end-to-end hardware development and play a central role in shaping the company’s engineering culture and IP portfolio.

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead architecture definition and design of high-power wireless charging systems, including resonant inverter stages, rectifiers, and power management subsystems
  • Own end-to-end hardware development from specification through prototype validation and productization
  • Make critical design decisions on topology selection, magnetics, semiconductors (GaN/SiC), and thermal management
  • Mentor and technically guide Power Electronics Engineers and interns on the team
  • Drive cross-functional alignment with RF/EM, firmware, and systems engineering teams on system-level design
  • Establish design standards, simulation methodologies, and test protocols for the power electronics discipline
  • Engage with key technology partners, component vendors, and customers on technical matters
  • Contribute to IP development and support patent filings

  REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Ph.D. a plus
  • 8–12+ years of progressive experience in power electronics hardware development
  • Deep expertise in resonant power conversion, WPT, GaN/SiC devices, magnetics design, and control loop design
  • Demonstrated track record of taking complex power systems from concept to validated hardware
  • Proficiency in simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, PLECS) and PCB design for high-frequency switching
  • Experience with EMC compliance (FCC, CE) and regulatory qualification processes
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions in ambiguous environments
  • Startup or early-stage company experience highly preferred

  WHAT SETS THIS ROLE APART

  • Highest individual contributor role — your decisions shape the product and the discipline
  • Direct line to company leadership and involvement in strategic technical decisions
  • Significant IP development opportunity with patent contribution and recognition
  • Equity participation and competitive compensation befitting a Staff-level role
