Bilingual Market Explorer Intern – Home Backup Energy
Bilingual Market Explorer Intern – Home Backup Energy
Location: Texas-based
Work arrangement: This is a hybrid, Texas-based field internship. Interns may complete internal meetings, planning, and reporting remotely; however, regular in-person fieldwork is required in one or more of Renogy’s priority Texas markets: Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.
Employment Type: Paid Internship, Part-Time (20–30 hours/week)
Duration: 12 weeks
Compensation: Hourly pay, commensurate with experience; approved local travel and field expenses reimbursed
Potential for Conversion: High-performing interns may be considered for a full-time Associate Market Development role.
About the Role
Renogy is seeking two curious, proactive, and bilingual interns to help us understand the real-world need for home backup energy solutions in Texas.
This is not a traditional desk-based marketing internship. You will conduct field research with homeowners, communities, electricians, HVAC providers, solar installers, and local partners. Your work will help identify customer needs, purchase barriers, product opportunities, and local go-to-market strategies for home backup power solutions.
We are hiring for two complementary focus areas. Candidates may be matched based on their background and strengths.
Focus Area 1: Consumer & Community Market Explorer
- Interview homeowners who have experienced power outages to understand their needs, priorities, budgets, and decision-making process.
- Participate in community outreach, homeowner discussions, and product demonstrations.
- Assist with home energy-load assessments and backup-power solution testing.
- Gather customer feedback on product capacity, runtime, pricing, installation, and brand trust.
- Help develop local customer insights and case studies for the Texas market.
Focus Area 2: Installer & Ecosystem Market Explorer
- Conduct outreach to local electricians, HVAC companies, solar installers, home-improvement businesses, and other relevant partners.
- Participate in field visits and home-site assessments when appropriate.
- Learn about installation workflows, labor requirements, pricing, margins, and partnership needs.
- Help identify and qualify potential local installation and channel partners.
- Build and maintain a local target-account and partner database.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct customer and partner interviews, both in person and remotely.
- Perform outreach via phone, email, and in-person visits.
- Document evidence, insights, objections, and recommendations from field work.
- Support small-scale market experiments and evaluate results.
- Work with Renogy’s U.S. market, product, engineering, and operations teams.
- Submit a weekly Evidence & Decision Memo summarizing findings, changed assumptions, and proposed next steps.
Qualifications
- Strong English communication skills, including the ability to independently conduct interviews and outreach; Mandarin Chinese proficiency is preferred because the role involves collaboration with Renogy product and engineering teams in China.
- Comfortable with cold calling, in-person outreach, and speaking with homeowners and business owners.
- Curious, analytical, resourceful, and able to turn incomplete information into practical hypotheses.
- Willing to work in communities, homes, stores, and installer job sites—not solely from an office.
- Basic comfort with numbers, customer research, and problem solving.
- Authorized to work in the United States. International students must have or be able to obtain appropriate CPT/OPT authorization.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Product Management, Business Analytics, Sociology/Anthropology, or a related field. All majors are welcome.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in clean energy, home energy systems, consumer products, or local business development.
- Experience with customer interviews, community engagement, sales, business development, research, or entrepreneurship.
- Familiarity with home electrical systems, solar, batteries, or backup power is helpful but not required.
Career Growth & What You’ll Gain
This internship is designed as a launchpad for high-potential talent—not simply a short-term research assignment. Interns will work close to real customers, local partners, and Renogy’s product and business teams, gaining firsthand exposure to how a new energy solution is discovered, defined, validated, and brought to market.
High-performing interns may have the opportunity to continue their career with Renogy after the program. Potential next steps are not limited to a market research role and may include opportunities across:
- Product Development and Product Management, including helping define customer needs, product requirements, and future product roadmaps;
- Go-to-Market and Product Marketing, including messaging, positioning, launch planning, and market-entry strategy;
- Market Development and Business Development, including local channel development and strategic partnerships;
- Sales and Channel Management, including working with installers, retailers, and other distribution partners;
- Customer Insights and Market Strategy, turning real-world user evidence into business and investment decisions.
Top interns may also be invited to contribute to the product-definition and product-launch process, working with cross-functional teams in the United States and China. This is an opportunity to build a broad foundation across product, market, customer, and commercial functions while helping shape the future of home energy solutions.
We are looking for individuals who want to do more than complete an internship—we are looking for future builders, product thinkers, market leaders, and business owners.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and a brief response to the following questions:
- Why are you interested in home energy, customer discovery, or market exploration?
- Are you comfortable with cold calling, in-person outreach, and field research?
- What are your available start/end dates and weekly availability?
Renogy is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and evaluate candidates based on qualifications, experience, and job-related skills.
