POSITION SUMMARY:

Pinewood is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated part-time Assistant Robotics Coach to join our Upper Campus team. This individual will support our junior high and high school robotics teams at an off-site program location starting August 29th. This role is designed for someone passionate about STEM education, enjoys mentoring students, and can help foster teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students by supporting their passion for robotics and preparing them for future success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist the head coach in guiding students through the design, building, and programming of robotics projects.
• Support students in preparing for competitions and exhibitions, ensuring safety and inclusivity at all times.
• Supervise and mentor students to encourage growth in technical skills, collaboration, and creativity.
• Help manage tools, equipment, and materials at the robotics site.
• Provide transportation for students between the school and the off-site robotics facility, ensuring safe and timely travel in addition to competition transportation.
• Maintain positive communication with students, staff, and families.
• Competition support, including student transportation, chaperoning, and competition support.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb short ladders or step stools when setting up robotics equipment, workstations, or competition fields.
• Ability to use hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, including assembling, repairing, and operating robotics components, tools, and computer equipment.
• Visual and auditory acuity to monitor student activities and ensure safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Interest in robotics, engineering, or STEM education (prior experience preferred, but not required).
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and digital communications skills.
• Ability to work with middle and high school students in a supportive and motivating manner.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to transport students.
• Reliability, flexibility, and commitment to the program’s schedule which is:
  • Monday-Friday: 3:00 pm-5:30 pm 
  • Saturday: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm 
  • Competitions: Friday-Sunday (3 Competitions per year)
    
     
• Exceptionally organized, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced, student-focused environment
• Skilled in using either hardware- or software-focused tools like CAD/CAM apps or GitHub and VSCode or similar software.
• Comfortable liaising with faculty, families, community partners, and students
• Experienced in planning logistics, managing deadlines, and coordinating live events

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Pay range is $25 - $35 per hour depending on experience.
