Judith Hope Fall 2026 Fellowship

Eleanor’s Legacy is a statewide organization that recruits, trains, and helps elect pro-choice Democratic women running for state and local office in New York. Every year, Eleanor’s Legacy hosts a Spring and Fall Fellows Program intended for women-identifying New York college students interested in pursuing work in government or Democratic politics. 

About the fellowship:

Named after our founder, Judith Hope, this Fellowship is a 10 week training program that requires 10-12 hours of commitment per fellow per week, with the expectation that some of the hours will be completed on evenings and weekends. 

As part of the fellowship, students will receive in-depth campaign training on field organizing, fundraising, digital strategy, policy and research, communications, and more. Students are assigned to work with a pro-choice Democratic woman’s campaign to gain hands-on experience with critical political work. 

The fellowship will begin with a 2-3 week virtual intensive campaign training program. Upon completion of the training, each fellow will be assigned to a specific campaign team of an Eleanor’s Legacy endorsed candidate to assist with volunteer management, digital strategy, fundraising, political outreach, communications, and/or policy & research, depending on the needs of each campaign.

As part of the fellowship, students will:

• Attend the 2 - 3 week virtual training program
• Coordinate a weekly schedule of 10-12 work hours with their assigned campaign team including a minimum of 3 hours of phone banking and/or voter canvassing per week
• Complete tasks assigned both by the assigned campaign and the Eleanor’s Legacy staff
• Keep track of hours spent on your assigned campaign
• Participate in a weekly one-hour cohort check-in meeting which includes a career chat where students hear directly from industry leaders on various career paths in politics
• Attend and support Eleanor’s Legacy events in their region
• Commit to a minimum of 6 hours of poll site visibility on Election Day- November 3, 2026

“Prior campaign and political experience are not required. All fellows are expected to contribute a minimum of 10 hours of work per week. The fellowship provides a $1000 stipend and is designed to allow students to complete another internship, job, or classes during the duration of the program.”
