Church Outreach Intern - Fall 2026

Bethany Christian Services is a national, faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and families thrive. Through family-strengthening services, foster care, adoption, refugee and immigrant support, and other community-based programs, Bethany works alongside churches and community partners to create lasting impact.

One in-person, unpaid educational internship placement is available to support our Central Florida branch.

Internship Overview

This internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in faith-based community outreach, church partnerships, relationship building, and event engagement. The intern will work alongside Bethany team members to strengthen relationships with local churches and community organizations while increasing awareness of Bethany’s mission and services.

The intern may have opportunities to:

• Participate in visits to local churches throughout the Central Florida area
• Support outreach and relationship-building with church leaders, ministry teams, and community partners
• Assist with planning and attending church, community, recruitment, and awareness events
• Help prepare presentations, informational materials, and follow-up communications
• Research potential church and community partnerships
• Support the coordination and tracking of outreach activities
• Learn how faith-based organizations develop and sustain community partnerships
• Represent Bethany’s mission and services in a professional and welcoming manner
• Collaborate with Bethany staff on strategies to strengthen church and community engagement

Specific activities will be based on the student’s academic learning objectives, readiness, supervision, program needs, and the terms of the university affiliation agreement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program
• Pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, ministry, nonprofit management, public relations, human services, social work, business, or a related field
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable engaging with church leaders, ministry teams, and community partners
• Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Interested in community outreach, ministry partnerships, nonprofit work, or faith-based service
• Able to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
• Willing and able to travel locally for approved church visits and community activities

Driving Requirements

Because this internship includes local church and community visits, the selected student must:

• Be at least 21 years old
• Hold a valid driver’s license
• Have at least three years of U.S. driving experience
• Provide proof of automobile insurance
• Successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Record review
• Receive written authorization before completing any driving-related internship activities

Internship Expectations

This is a structured, unpaid educational internship designed to support the student’s academic and professional development. Interns receive supervision and mentorship and do not replace employees, independently represent the organization, make final decisions, or perform responsibilities outside their approved learning scope.

The placement is contingent upon program capacity, university approval, completion of an affiliation agreement when required, and successful completion of Bethany’s application, screening, and onboarding requirements.
