Neighborhood Engagement Intern

College Intern – Neighborhood Engagement (Fall 2026)

Looking for an internship where you can make a real impact in the community?

The City of Hamilton Neighborhoods Division is seeking enthusiastic college interns to help strengthen Hamilton's neighborhoods through the nationally recognized 17STRONG initiative. This is a hands-on internship where you'll work alongside City staff, neighborhood leaders, and residents to build connections, support community events, and bring ideas to life.

No two days are the same. One day you might be helping lead a neighborhood cleanup, another day capturing photos and videos at a community event, organizing supplies for a block party, creating social media content, or working alongside residents on projects that make Hamilton an even better place to live.

What You'll Do

  • Support neighborhood events, cleanups, and community engagement initiatives
  • Help coordinate and lead neighborhood projects and activities
  • Drive the City truck and 17STRONG CUBE event trailer (training provided)
  • Capture photos and videos for social media and promotional materials
  • Create content using Canva and other social media platforms
  • Keep event equipment, supplies, and the CUBEs organized and ready for events
  • Work with residents of all ages and backgrounds while representing the City in a positive, professional manner

What We're Looking For

We're looking for students who are:

  • Friendly, dependable, and organized
  • Comfortable interacting with the public
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends as community events require
  • Comfortable driving or willing to learn to drive a truck and trailer
  • Interested in community engagement, communications, marketing, public administration, nonprofit leadership, event planning, or a related field

Why This Internship?

This isn't a typical internship where you'll spend your days behind a desk. You'll gain real-world experience in:

  • Community engagement
  • Event planning
  • Leadership
  • Social media and marketing
  • Local government
  • Project management
  • Teamwork and communication

If you're looking for an opportunity to make a difference, build your resume, and help strengthen one community one neighborhood at a time, we'd love to hear from you.
