Marketing and Communications Intern

Marketing & Communications Intern (Fall 2026)

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County (BBBS) is seeking a part-time Marketing & Communications Intern. Interns should commit approximately 15 hours/week. Work schedule and location can be flexible, although some work will require regular hours at the BBBS Office (2059 Atwood Avenue).

Internship would start around September 14, 2026, based on availability.
 

Position Overview

The Marketing & Communications Intern will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Development team to support ongoing marketing efforts that drive volunteer recruitment, event participation, and community engagement.

This role will focus on creating content and campaigns that generate action—particularly recruiting volunteers for our School Friends program and increasing engagement on Madison’s east side and in Sun Prairie.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Media & Content Creation
    Assist in creating and scheduling social media posts that include clear calls to action (volunteer, donate, attend, engage. Draft captions, assist with storytelling, and help highlight BBBS's impact.
  • Volunteer Recruitment Marketing
    Support targeted marketing efforts to recruit volunteers and assist with outreach content, flyers, and digital campaigns
  • Marketing Materials & Campaign Support
    Assist in creating and updating marketing materials (digital and print). Support event promotion, email campaigns, and website updates
  • Engagement & Performance Tracking
    Track basic engagement metrics (social media, email, etc.) Help identify what content is driving the most interaction and response.

 

Qualifications

Ideal applicants are hard-working, professional, proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable. They are committed to the mission of BBBS and are eager to learn and grow. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite and have excellent writing and editing skills. Experience with InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media management is preferred, but not required.
