Lead Preschool Teacher (2–6 years) Position Summary
Up to $500 health stipend per month available for full time lead teachers
Leads the preschool classroom, guiding children in social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through age-appropriate curriculum. All employees are expected to support and reflect the Center’s Christian mission and values in ways that are appropriate for young children and consistent with California Community Care Licensing requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement preschool curriculum aligned with developmental standards.
- Supervise children and maintain safety at all times.
- Supervise assistant teachers and volunteers.
- Observe, document, and assess child development.
- Prepare classroom materials and maintain organized, safe, and clean indoor and outdoor environment.
- Guide children’s social-emotional growth and behavior management.
- Assists with potty training and toileting
- Communicate with families regarding child progress.
- Ensure compliance with Title 22, health, and safety regulations.
- Additional trainings as required.
- Regularly sit on the floor or in child-sized chairs.
- Easily move between sitting on the floor and standing.
- Frequently bend, kneel, squat, stoop, and reach.
- Lift and carry children up to 40 pounds, as needed.
- Walk, stand, and actively supervise children indoors and outdoors throughout the day.
- Push, pull, and move classroom equipment and supplies.
- Respond quickly to children's needs and emergencies.
- Participate in active play and daily classroom activities.
- Maintain the vision, hearing, and communication skills needed to safely supervise children.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of at least 12 ECE/CD units or Child Development Teacher Permit (per Title 22).
- Experience teaching children 2–6 years old.
- Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification or enrollment in next available class; TB clearance; criminal background clearance.
Skills:
- Strong classroom management and curriculum planning.
- Knowledge of early childhood developmental stages.
- Excellent observation, documentation, and communication skills.
