Venture Kids Director

Venture Kids Director (Part-Time) 

Reports To: Lead Pastor

Status: Part-Time, Paid Staff Position with start date of 9/1/26 

Position Summary

The Venture Kids Director serves as part of the Venture staff team by providing leadership, organization, and

spiritual oversight to Venture’s ministry to kids and their families. This role exists to help children know and

follow Jesus by creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for spiritual growth. 

Primary Responsibilities 

Venture Kids Leadership 

• Oversee all Sunday morning children’s ministry environments, including nursery and kid’s classes.

• Source, evaluate, adapt, or develop age-appropriate Bible curriculum aligned with our values.

• Ensure lessons, supplies, and classrooms are prepared each week.

• Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for children and families. 

Volunteer Leadership & Scheduling

• Recruit, train, encourage, and support kid’s ministry volunteers.

• Create and manage volunteer schedules for Sunday lead teachers, helpers, and nursery

volunteers.

• Communicate regularly with volunteers regarding schedules, curriculum, and ministry updates.

• Help cultivate a healthy team culture among Venture Kids volunteers. 

Family & Relationship Ministry

• Build relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.

• Serve as a welcoming and accessible presence for families on Sundays & during ministry events.

• Partner with parents in the spiritual development of their children. 

• Follow up with new families and help children feel connected and known. 

Events & Ministry Coordination

• Coordinate children’s involvement in special church events such as:

◦ Christmas programs

◦ Summer camp

◦ Family ministry events

◦ Other seasonal or church-wide activities

• Assist with planning logistics, volunteer coordination, communication, and execution of other ministry events.

 

Qualifications 

• A growing and active personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

• Agreement with the church’s mission, vision, values, and beliefs.

• Ability to lead and work well with volunteers and families.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Experience working with children in a ministry, educational, or volunteer setting preferred.

• Ability to work independently while functioning collaboratively within a small staff team. 

 

Expectations 

• Consistently demonstrate Christian character and spiritual maturity.

• Be dependable, relational, and proactive in ministry leadership.

• Maintain appropriate child safety practices and policies.

• Attend Sunday worship services and key ministry events.

• Participate in weekly staff meetings with the Lead Pastor and staff team.

• Collaborate with church leadership to support the overall vision and ministry goals of the church.

• Communicate regularly with the Lead Pastor regarding ministry needs, wins, and challenges. 

 

Time Commitment & Schedule 

• Part-time position with flexible hours averaging 15-20 hours per week.

• Regular Sunday morning presence required.

• Weekly staff meeting participation required.

• Additional hours may be needed during major ministry events or seasonal programs. 

 

Compensation 

• Compensation to be determined based on experience, qualifications, and expected weekly hours.

• Paid vacation time, floating holidays, and opportunities for continuing education.
