Environmental Technician

ENVIRONMENTAL Technician

F&ME Consultants, Inc. (FME) is a full-service geotechnical engineering firm that offers a comprehensive range of geotechnical, environmental, materials testing, and construction services. Working with a broad spectrum of clients, to include government agencies, educational institutions, industrial entities, and commercial and private businesses, FME has amassed valuable experience on a variety of projects. FME is a South Carolina-owned and operated firm that has been in business for over 45 years.

FME is seeking an Environmental Technician to work on a diverse variety of environmental assessment, engineering, and remediation projects for a wide variety of clients.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

· Obtaining and maintaining necessary SCDES and EPA certifications for lead and asbestos assessment

· Obtaining and maintaining 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour annual refresher

· Performing field work independently, to include air sampling, groundwater sampling, vapor sampling, periodic air monitoring, operation of XRF equipment, etc. This will include lead and asbestos sampling/testing.

· Performing all aspects of environmental assessments to include Phase I, II, and III. This includes field work, historical research, and report writing to satisfy ASTM requirements.

· Performing spill release and cleanup activities, to possibly include petroleum, PCB, and/or hazardous waste. This will necessitate maintaining OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certifications.

· Interacting with and maintaining client relationships.

· Interacting with and maintaining vendor and subcontractor relationships.

· Drafting all aspects of asbestos and lead assessment reports.

· Oversight of drilling activities (to be performed by others).

· Assessment work related to underground storage tanks and petroleum. Documentation of such events.

Qualifications

· High school diploma is required; Associate's degree in a technical field is desired. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.

· Comfortable with outdoor work in all seasons.

· Able to lift 35lbs of equipment and materials.

· Willing to work independently and proficient at time management.

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
