About the African American Mayors Association (AAMA)

The African American Mayors Association (AAMA) represents more than 500 African American mayors from across the United States. Through advocacy, leadership development, strategic partnerships, and innovative programming, AAMA works to strengthen cities and improve the quality of life for the communities our members serve. At AAMA, policy is more than legislation; it is a tool for solving problems, creating opportunity, and helping local leaders build stronger, more resilient communities.

Position Overview

AAMA is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and action-oriented Policy Advisor to help shape the future of municipal policy.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond simply tracking legislation and instead play an active role in developing practical solutions that help cities thrive. Working directly with AAMA's member mayors, federal agencies, national organizations, corporate partners, and local leaders,
the Policy Advisor will help transform emerging ideas into meaningful initiatives that make a measurable difference in communities across the country.

The ideal candidate is naturally curious, enjoys solving complex challenges, and is energized by bringing people together to create solutions. This individual should be equally comfortable researching policy, facilitating conversations, developing strategic recommendations, and representing AAMA before diverse
audiences.
