AmeriCorps 4-H Member – Iowa Jump$tart Coalition (Half-Time Term)

Living Allowance: $9,500.00 paid in equal semi-monthly installments

Position Summary

This unique AmeriCorps opportunity allows ISU students to serve with the Iowa Jump$tart Coalition while potentially pairing the role with an academic internship if the department approves and requirements align. Students gain hands-on experience in outreach, educator engagement, statewide coordination, and financial literacy resource development—skills that directly support Positive Youth Development across Iowa.

About the Program The Iowa Jump$tart Coalition and Iowa 4-H share a commitment to empowering youth through Positive Youth Development. By combining Jump$tart’s financial literacy mission with the 4-H “learn-by-doing” philosophy, this AmeriCorps position expands access to high-quality financial education for youth—especially in rural and underserved communities.

Key Service Activities

Identify financial literacy organizations, schools, and programs across Iowa to support a statewide directory.

Design and maintain a searchable database of financial literacy providers.

Implement statewide outreach by drafting communication templates, organizing contact lists, sending targeted messages, and tracking district engagement.

Strengthen educator networks by sharing resources and maintaining communication logs.

Coordinate student competitions such as the Personal Finance Challenge and Economics Challenge.

Assist with educator events including symposiums and trainings.

Evaluate and organize financial literacy materials aligned with Iowa standards.

Draft outreach content such as newsletters, educator updates, and partner highlights.

Service Schedule Members serve a minimum of 19 hours per week. Some evening or weekend service may occur during events or statewide outreach periods.

Eligibility Requirements

At least 17 years old

High school diploma or GED (or in progress)

U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident

Must pass a national service criminal history check

Performance Expectations

Members must complete required AmeriCorps 4-H Canvas trainings, submit bi-monthly timesheets, complete monthly reports, and participate in scheduled check-ins with program staff. Mid-term and end-of-term evaluations are required.
