Poster Press Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Press at CC Poster Press Printers design and print letterpress posters for campus and community events. The Coordinator manages projects, coordinates with clients, and manages printing schedules. Poster Press Printers will also help with regular maintenance and organization at The Press and may assist with workshops, classes, and public events that take place at The Press.
Qualifications:
- All applicants must have completed at least one course in letterpress printing (full block or adjunct). This does not include courses where letterpress printing was only a minor part of the coursework, or courses that visited the Press for a project. Applicants who do not meet this requirement, or have not been specifically trained otherwise, will not be emailed or interviewed.
- Work experience that includes project coordination and some management of other employees.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in basic letterpress techniques: hand typesetting, linoleum/wood carving, and/or printing using a Vandercook Proofing Press
- Knowledge of and proficiency with other letterpress studio equipment: guillotine paper cutter, proofing press, etc.
- Commitment to understanding and following all safety procedures and rules concerning the Press at CC.
- Must be reliable and organized, and able to work both independently and as a team on complex projects.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinate a team of poster printers and manage printing projects.
- Lead a team in designing effective posters using metal and wood type and other resources available at the Press.
- Schedule the printing of posters in an efficient and timely manner and coordinate the delivery of them to clients on the agreed-upon deadline.
- Coordinate student team to maintain cleanliness and order of letterpress studio and equipment: stocking and organizing inks and solvents, cleaning work surfaces, putting away and organizing type and spacing material, sweeping, organizing scrap pile, oiling and cleaning printing presses.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with workshops, classes, and events as needed.
