Elementary Physical Education Teacher
PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER
Classification: Full-Time, Exempt; could potentially be part-time
Reports To: Principal
Position Summary The Physical Education (PE) Teacher develops, implements, and supervises a comprehensive fitness and health program for students in Grades PS3-5. This role integrates Christian values, sportsmanship, and teamwork into daily physical activities, fostering a safe environment where students can grow in body, mind, and spirit.
Core Responsibilities
●Faith Integration: Model Christian values, incorporate prayer into classes, and promote Christian sportsmanship.
●Curriculum Delivery: Design age-appropriate lesson plans focusing on motor skills, cooperative games, and basic fi tness.
●Student Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and secure environment in the gym and on the playing fields.
●Classroom Management: Establish clear rules, positive routines, and fair discipline for large groups of active children.
●Assessment & Reporting: Evaluate student participation and physical skills fairly, providing accurate report card grades.
●Community Engagement: Assist with school-wide events, field days, recess supervision, and faculty meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements
●Education: Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
●Certification: Valid State Teaching License or ability to obtain one within four years
●Clearances: Must pass all mandatory diocesan background checks and child safety training (e.g., VIRTUS).
●Skills: Excellent communication, high physical energy, and a patient, nurturing attitude toward young children.
Physical Demands
●Ability to stand, walk, run, and demonstrate physical exercises for extended periods.
●Ability to lift, carry, and move sports equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
●Ability to work in both indoor gymnasiums and outdoor weather conditions.
Salary - Dependent upon experience and certification
