Spanish Teacher

The Ursuline School is a private, independent, Catholic, college preparatory girls’ school, grades 6 through 12 located in New Rochelle, New York, 20 miles north of Manhattan in a diverse, suburban community.  The school was established in 1897 in the spirit of St. Angela Merici, foundress of the Ursuline Order.  The Ursuline School is part of a network of educators at secondary schools and colleges of the Ursuline Sisters across the United States and 36 countries. Position Overview

The Ursuline School seeks a passionate and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join our faculty and teach Spanish language courses to students in grades 6–12. The ideal candidate will create an engaging and student-centered learning environment that fosters language acquisition, communication skills, cultural appreciation, and critical thinking while supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of students.

The successful candidate will inspire students to develop confidence and proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish while cultivating an appreciation for Spanish language and culture through meaningful and interactive learning experiences.

Start Date: September 1, 2026 

Position: Full-time; Middle School and/or High School (Grades 6-12)

Salary Range:  $70,000 - $90,000 commensurate with background and experience  

Responsibilities:

• Teach Middle school and/or high school Spanish language courses including AP level Spanish in the World Language Department
• Work as an active, collaborative member of the department, grade level and schoolwide teams. Work collaboratively and professionally with subject area, grade-level, and school-wide colleagues for curriculum planning, student support, and mentoring 
• Plan, structure, and implement interactive lessons and labs that develop students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Plan, structure, and implement interactive lessons that develop students’ critical thinking and writing skills
• Differentiate instruction to attend to the needs of individual children
• Effectively use appropriate technology and tools in teaching
• Hold high expectations for every student.  Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for growth and success of all students
• Keep students and parents well informed of student progress by providing feedback, focused learning intentions, and clear success criteria
• Serve as a full community member by attending meetings, participating in committees, and volunteering for various duties supervising students
• Continue to grow professionally (i.e., conferences, in-service training, current literature)

Qualifications: 

• Fully fluent in Spanish; native speakers encouraged to apply 
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in language studies required
• Master’s Degree preferred
• New York State Teacher certification in Spanish preferred
• Minimum two (2) years teaching experience in secondary education (6-12) preferred
• Experience incorporating technology in support of student learning
• Demonstrated ability to provide both content based and conceptual [subject matter] lessons
