SolidWorks CAD Engineer
Solid Work/CAD Technical Staff/Engineer: Immediate Opening
Blue Wave Semiconductors, Inc. is a high technology company that manufactures advanced thin film and nanomaterial coating systems and conducts cutting edge semiconductor materials research. It is located at the UMBC Technology Center-South Campus (5-minute drive from UMBC campus and near BWI Airport) in Halethorpe, MD. The Company’s equipment products include vacuum technology (vacuum chambers, pumps, valves, temperature controllers, pressure controllers, gas flow meters, lasers, electron beam etc.).
Blue Wave is seeking part-time entry level or intern engineering team members for CAD design, 3D printing of prototypes and use of CAM software for CNC machining. Candidate must have advanced skills in solid works or other CAD related programs for modeling various parts and components and creating engineering drawings for production.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a green card holder.
- Must be a sophomore or above pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Computer, or other Engineering disciplines at UMBC.
- Requires proficiency in CAD (Solid Works or other program) and CAM (Fusion) Software for the creation of 3D models and drawings.
- Strong skills or experience in the use of FDM 3D printers and slicing software
- Hands-on and technical skills, particularly in mechanical and electrical areas, with experience in developing prototypes and designing parts using solid works/CAD software are preferred but not mandatory.
- Interest in modeling machine systems with 100s of parts integrated.
- Some experience in Mechatronics (Mechanical electronics motorization programing ) and interest in building mechanical assemblies, instruments, repair, automation, hobbies in automation/robotics, auto repair experience, and electrical wiring,
Job Functions
- Assist current staff members in creating drawings for mechanical assembly of parts, building various products using machine shop skills, develop and monitor inventory of parts, and manage production processes.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers to build and improve products.
- Assist staff in testing and quality control of parts and create manuals and operating procedures.
***Training will be provided.
Salary: Depending upon skills and will be discussed during the interview.
Note: Position immediate to start. This is not a remote position and will require on-site presence. Advance training related to Blue Wave parts development will be provided.
