Pay rate: $16 per hour 

Hours per wk: 4-8 hrs per week

Position Overview

The Advancement Student Intern – Athletic Development supports fundraising, donor engagement, and athletic advancement initiatives for Hobart and William Smith Athletics. This position provides hands-on experience in higher education fundraising, event planning, communications, and project management while working closely with coaches, student-athletes, and advancement staff to strengthen philanthropic support for HWS Athletics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary student liaison between the Office of Athletic Development and varsity athletic teams, helping communicate fundraising initiatives and engagement opportunities. 
  • Assist in planning and executing Athletics Day of Donors, including outreach to teams, tracking participation, preparing materials, and supporting day-of logistics. 
  • Support donor communications by proofreading, formatting, and assisting with emails, social media content, stewardship materials, and other outreach. 
  • Help coordinate athletic fundraising campaigns, including team-based annual giving initiatives and special projects. 
  • Assist with athletic stewardship and donor engagement events, providing logistical and administrative support before, during, and after events. 
  • Collaborate with coaches, student-athletes, and advancement staff to promote a culture of philanthropy within HWS Athletics. 
  • Support project timelines, administrative tasks, and special initiatives that contribute to the success of Athletic Development.

 

Qualifications

  • Current Hobart and William Smith Colleges student in good academic standing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; experience with databases a plus.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to learn.
