Carolina Panthers ON SI.  We are hiring digital sports content writers for https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/onsi to write, edit, package, and publish compelling content following SEO best practices and standards. This person is responsible for using social and digital sources to uncover interesting topics to create quick hit content that seeks to advance a story and engage fans. The position favors candidates who are able to contribute on a daily basis. The role has flexible hours and is fully remote, and at times involves nights and weekends, especially in gamedays. 

Job duties:

  • Create, edit, and post timely, relevant written content for Panthers On SI in a fast-paced news environment
  • Monitor news and social media sources to identify audience-friendly stories that will result in enticing headlines and ledes for fans of Carolina Panthers 
  • Copy edit stories in AP style with SEO best practices
  • Coordinate with colleagues on best practices for the display and distribution of content 
  • Properly prioritize production of content and ensure it’s engaging and accurate
  • Understand internal analytics and be willing to double down on subject matters that are engaging to our audience

Requirements:

  • Experience in communications and journalism or a related field
  • Proven writing and editing skills, in terms of quality and proficiency, with a strong knowledge of AP style and SEO.
  • Experience producing content in a fast-paced news environment is a plus.
  • Excellent buzzy news judgment and ability to think quickly and act appropriately under pressure
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of social media tools, including but not limited to X/Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, developing strong story ideas from them
  • Must be a self-starter who can work independently with constructive supervision and effectively within a team environment with communication primarily via instant messaging
  • Strong knowledge of Wisconsin sports (particularly football/basketball), understanding what content drives digital audience interest
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
