About the Role
CrunchTutor.com is seeking qualified AP Calculus AB and BC tutors to teach motivated high school students through one-on-one or small-group online sessions.
Tutors will help students build a strong conceptual understanding of calculus, improve problem-solving skills, complete coursework, and prepare for quizzes, finals, and the AP Calculus AB or BC exam.
Topics May Include
- Limits and continuity
- Derivatives and differentiation techniques
- Applications of derivatives
- Related rates and optimization
- Motion, velocity, and acceleration
- Integrals and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus
- Techniques and applications of integration
- Differential equations and slope fields
- Area, volume, and accumulation problems
- Parametric, polar, and vector-valued functions
- Sequences and series
- Taylor and Maclaurin series
- Calculator and non-calculator problem-solving strategies
- AP multiple-choice and free-response questions
Responsibilities
- Conduct live online AP Calculus AB and/or BC sessions
- Explain mathematical concepts and problem-solving methods clearly
- Help students interpret graphs, equations, tables, and verbal descriptions
- Guide students through calculator and non-calculator problems
- Review homework and provide constructive feedback
- Prepare students for quizzes, tests, finals, and the AP exam
- Track student progress and identify areas for improvement
- Develop customized practice plans based on student needs
- Support curriculum or practice-material development when needed
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, or college-level calculus
- Background in mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, economics, data science, or a related field
- AP Calculus experience or strong AP exam performance preferred
- Completion of Calculus I and II preferred for AP Calculus BC tutors
- Tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or academic-support experience preferred
- Strong communication, reliability, and online teaching skills
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and student-friendly manner
- Familiarity with graphing calculators, Desmos, GeoGebra, or related mathematical tools is a plus
Schedule
Approximately 3–8 hours per week, with flexible evening or weekend availability.
