About GLASA
Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) strives to ensure no one sits on the sidelines. Our mission is to empower and support youth, adults, and injured military members who have a physical or visual disability through inclusive adaptive sports programs.
About the Position
GLASA is seeking an undergraduate student for a semester-long internship (fall semester) to support, learn from, and contribute to GLASA marketing initiatives, operations, and event management. This internship is designed for 1 academic credit for students pursuing careers and education in non-profit marketing, operations, and event management.
Hours: Internships will last a maximum of 15 weeks (typically September to December), with a minimum of 10 hours of work per week. Interns can expect to contribute to current GLASA operations, future event planning, and ongoing programming and marketing needs. GLASA will work with LFC to ensure selected interns have education and interest areas that align with current GLASA work. This internship is hybrid — interns are expected to complete a minimum of 10 hours per week both in person and online, attend the Wednesday GLASA all-staff meeting, and have weekly check-ins with their internship supervisor. GLASA is committed to respecting students' class schedules and prioritizing their education, assignments, and exams.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in GLASA operations to learn about nonprofit organizations, working with athletes with physical and visual disabilities, and the execution of adaptive sports through a marketing lens.
Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of GLASA events and marketing initiatives
Contribute to marketing and outreach efforts, including content creation and promotion including the design of graphics, flyers, social media assets, and promotional materials using Canva or similar design software
Create/maintain Editorial Calendar for visual and written content to highlight events, campaigns, fundraising appeals, including scheduling, and performance tracking
Monitor social media engagement and recommend strategies to increase audience growth and community interaction
Collaborate with GLASA staff on future event planning and organizational initiatives including donation solicitation and thank you notes
Participate in weekly all-staff meetings and regular supervisor check-ins
Complete an internship project addressing a current GLASA challenge, growth opportunity, or contribution to existing programming, culminating in an end-of-internship presentation
Internship Project Requirements:
Project must be completed during the length of the internship
Project must contribute to a current GLASA program, event, or challenge
Project must be presented to GLASA staff at the end of the internship (recommended 5–10 slide PowerPoint)
Interns may propose their own project ideas; GLASA will also have project options available if needed
All projects must be approved by the Executive Director

Uses time efficiently while managing multiple projects and meet deadlines
Professional, dependable, and detail oriented
Minimum Qualifications:
Eligible to receive college internship credit
Basic written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Strong time management and reliability (punctuality, meeting deadlines)
Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with email, Microsoft Office, or Google Workspace
Professional attitude and ability to work well in a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Coursework or prior experience in marketing, communications, public relations, Journalism, Digital Media, Graphic Design or nonprofit administration
Hands-on experience with design and content tools such as Canva or Adobe Express for creating marketing materials
Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact) and content creation
Comfortable learning new software and platforms independently, with a proactive approach to figuring out new tools
Interest or experience in social media content creation and audience engagement
Basic photography or videography skills
Familiarity with website content management systems is a plus
Compensation:
This is a paid internship. Interns will receive a total stipend of $2,000 for the duration of the internship, distributed in two installments.
