About the Role
We are seeking a Data Center Physical Security Engineer to support daily physical security operations at a data center in Sterling, Virginia.
This position is responsible for coordinating on-site security personnel, managing access-control procedures, inspecting CCTV and other security systems, responding to security incidents, and maintaining accurate security documentation.
This is a physical security position, not a cybersecurity role.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the daily activities, scheduling, post assignments, and performance of on-site security personnel.
- Manage visitor registration, identity verification, badges, contractor access, and access-control procedures.
- Monitor entrances, exits, restricted areas, and other sensitive locations to prevent unauthorized access.
- Conduct regular inspections of CCTV cameras, access-control systems, alarms, locks, and other physical security equipment.
- Identify camera blind spots, equipment failures, access-control issues, and physical security risks.
- Respond to unauthorized access, suspicious activity, asset loss, alarm events, and other security incidents.
- Document incident timelines, actions taken, findings, and follow-up requirements.
- Support CCTV, access-control, alarm, and other security-system installation or replacement projects.
- Maintain inspection records, incident reports, access records, security equipment inventories, and audit documentation.
- Support security training, emergency drills, compliance reviews, and internal or client audits.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, vendors, security service providers, and law-enforcement agencies when appropriate.
- Travel to other data center locations as needed for security inspections, audits, training, and related projects.
- Provide emergency or after-hours support when required.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in physical security, security operations, security supervision, or a related field.
- Experience with CCTV, access-control systems, visitor management, alarm response, or security personnel management.
- Ability to identify physical security risks and respond appropriately to security incidents.
- Strong communication, coordination, documentation, and incident-reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during urgent situations.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Sterling, Virginia 20166.
- Availability for emergency or after-hours support when required.
- Ability to travel occasionally within the United States and internationally.
- Data center, critical facility, industrial site, airport, hospital, or other high-security environment experience is preferred.
- Experience with Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, C•CURE, Honeywell, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Mandarin Chinese communication ability is required.
Travel Requirements
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required. Trips are generally short, typically lasting two to three days. Total travel is not expected to exceed approximately 30 days per year.
