Ecosystem Restoration and Land Stewardship Intern

At Restore Native Plants (RNP), our mission is to protect, enhance, and restore native plants, wildlife, ecosystems, and natural resources for the benefit of all, by leading unique community programs that help society learn the importance of conservation and preservation. We combine hands-on ecological work with educational outreach, empowering communities to connect with and care for the natural world. 

Internship Overview:

Are you passionate about ecology, conservation, and getting hands-on field experience? RNP is seeking motivated individuals for our Ecosystem Restoration and Land Stewardship Internship! Each day is different: planting native species one day, removing invasive plants the next, and supporting habitat restoration throughout the region. This is outdoor, physically active, and highly engaging work, perfect for college students or recent graduates looking to gain real-world field experience.

Cohort Options:

Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many cohorts as they wish. Our team offers flexibility and accommodations with scheduling.

• Cohort 1: April - June
• Cohort 2: June - August
• Cohort 3: August - November

What You’ll Do:

Interns will participate in a variety of roles designed to advance RNP’s mission, including:

• Nursery Management: plant propagation and maintenance, seed sowing, pest control, and nursery operations
• Invasive Species Field Operations: identify native and invasive species, and manage invasive species through manual, mechanical, and chemical methods
• Environmental Stewardship: plant native species, maintain wildlife gardens and landscapes
• Property Stewardship & Groundskeeping: learn property management and facility maintenance of historic and new structures, general maintenance and groundskeeping
• Community Outreach: assist with volunteer events, presentations, and educational activities that engage the public in conservation

Who We’re Looking for:

Ideal candidates are college students or recent graduates passionate about conservation and are committed to making a tangible difference in ecological preservation. Desired qualities include:

• Interest in ecology, environmental science, or conservation (formal coursework is beneficial but not required)
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physical fitness, ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Collaborative, proactive, eager to learn
• At least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license
