Intern - Palmetto Clean Fuels

Internship Opportunity: Palmetto Clean Fuels Internship within the State Energy Office 

Palmetto Clean Fuels coalition, an initiative of the State Energy Office within the SC Office of Regulatory Staff, seeks to hire an intern for the Summer 2026 semester. Funding for this internship is through the DOE Clean Cities Accelerate program and the SC Energy Office. This internship will give students from a broad spectrum of fields (communications, public relations, business, marketing, engineering or environmental sciences, and others) the opportunity to grow public awareness and expand the markets of advanced vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, and practices that reduce the consumption of petroleum. We have numerous clean transportation initiatives underway and several on the horizon, making the summer semester an ideal time for meaningful work. 

The successful intern will assist with existing efforts and future programs and initiatives such as those outlined below: 

  • Focus on Palmetto Clean Fuels tasks, opportunities, outreach, and research
  • Expanding coalition recruitment efforts and assisting with outreach meetings and events
  • Developing success stories for monthly newsletter and updating web content
  • Assisting with data collection, fleet analyses, and assistance to fleets
  • Maintaining the Plug in SC marketing campaign and initiative
  • Providing research support for electric vehicles and other alternative fuels
