AFTERNOON ASSISTANT TEACHER – BETHLEHEM MONTESSORI SCHOOL

Hours: 2:20 - 4:30 Monday – Thursday

This is an excellent opportunity for education students to gain some practical experience in the field of education/child care! Montessori is a growing field and experience will set candidates apart in their future hiring process.

In this position the Afternoon Assistant teacher works along with the Head Teacher to supervise a small class of mixed age children, 3-6 years. Activities involve naptime, outdoor play and parent pick-ups. 5 days is preferred, but will consider 2 or 3.

Responsibilities

· dismissal of students

· Supervise children during outdoor and indoor play

· Model appropriate classroom routines and procedures

· naptime duties

· light cleaning and classroom maintenance

Qualifications

· Minimum of high school diploma · previous child care experience and/or Early Childhood/Elementary major

· FBI, State, and Child Abuse, NSOR Clearances for both DHS and PDE

· Physical with negative TB test

· First Aid/CPR Certification or willingness to obtain

· 2 written references

· Obtain mandated reporter, fire safety, and DHS safety training after employment

· willingness to learn about the Montessori method

· obtain/maintain 12 hours annual training (college courses satisfy requirement)
