The Center for Social and Technology Entrepreneurship (C-STE) is dedicated to advancing entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership across the CSUN community. Through academic programs, competitions, accelerators, mentorship, industry partnerships, and student leadership opportunities, C-STE empowers students to launch ideas that create economic and social impact.
We are looking for creative, entrepreneurial, and motivated students who want to help tell the story of innovation at CSUN while gaining hands-on experience in digital marketing, branding, storytelling, and entrepreneurship.
Position Overview
As a Student Assistant – Social Media Strategist, you will help tell the story of the C-STE by creating engaging digital content that highlights student innovation, entrepreneurship, and community impact. Working closely with the C-STE faculty, staff, students, entrepreneurs, alumni, and industry partners, you will contribute to developing and executing a comprehensive social media and digital marketing strategy to increase awareness of C-STE programs, events, and opportunities across the CSUN community.
In this role, you will develop creative, professional-quality content for social media that can be used across multiple platforms (e.g., multiple social media platforms, the C-STE website, newsletters, etc.) while helping maintain a consistent and compelling brand presence. You will collaborate with a diverse team to capture stories, promote events, showcase student and alumni achievements, and engage current and prospective participants of C-STE programs. This position offers a unique opportunity to build a professional portfolio, strengthen your digital marketing and storytelling skills, and gain hands-on experience working in a dynamic entrepreneurship and innovation center.
Responsibilities
- Creating engaging content for Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook
- Ability to track and maintain a content calendar on a weekly basis
- Capturing photos and videos during events, workshops, competitions, guest speaker sessions, etc.
- Producing short-form videos, reels, stories, graphics, and promotional materials
- Interviewing students, alumni, faculty, and entrepreneurs in person or through digital platforms (i.e, C-STE’s podcast, Riverside software, etc.) to tell inspiring stories
- Monitoring social media engagement and identifying opportunities to increase awareness
- Tracking analytics and preparing reports on campaign performance
- Staying current on emerging social media trends and recommending new ideas
- Helping maintain a consistent and professional C-STE brand across all platforms
Qualifications
- Passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and student engagement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creativity and an eye for visual storytelling
- Experience with Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, or other social media platforms
- Basic photography and video editing skills (Canva, CapCut, or similar tools are a plus)
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professionalism when representing C-STE at campus and community events
- Willingness to learn new productivity software (i.e., Microsoft Teams), marketing technologies, and AI-powered content creation tools
