Sustainable Agriculture Research

Welcoming applications for enthusiastic, motivated, detail-oriented students to research sustainable agriculture utilizing nanotechnology and plant-protective microbes. This position is open to undergraduate researchers with demonstrated skills in bacteria growth, growth media preparation, aseptic technique, data measurements and analysis using standard equipment in a biological engineering lab. Successful applicants will work in a team environment with other students and faculty mentors. Biological engineering is by nature interdisciplinary and this position requires a breadth of skills and willingness to learn new methods and techniques. Research efforts by the successful candidate will be part of a team approach and attendance of research group meetings and participation in publications emerging from the research is encouraged and welcomed.

Required skills: Microbiology methods, analytical measurements, mass balance calculations, meticulous attention to details. Completion of USU Basic lab safety training.

Preferred skills: Prior (continuing) attendance and participation in lab research meetings. Knowledge of plants and their microbiomes.
