We are looking for a Technical Consultant to join the COPA-DATA USA team to provide consulting, technical support, and guidance to customers, integrators, and business partners in Puerto Rico and the Americas as needed.
The position is fully remote in Puerto Rico and requires availability for domestic and international travel. The selected candidate will report to the Head of Tech in East Windsor, New Jersey and will work closely with the Sales, Product Management, Professional Services, and Technical Support teams. After completing a comprehensive training program on the zenon platform, they will deliver pre-sales and post-sales technical services including troubleshooting, system optimization, customer training, and professional services.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for COPA-DATA products via email, phone, video calls, remote sessions, and onsite if needed.
- Guide and collaborate with systems integrators during project planning, configuration, testing, and execution related to the zenon software platform.
- Stay current on new zenon versions, automation technologies, industrial cybersecurity, and market trends.
- Participate in FAT and SAT testing, commissioning, migrations, version upgrades, and technical troubleshooting as needed.
- Advise customers on the integration of field devices using protocols such as Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, Rockwell Drivers, Rockwell PLCs, Modbus and other industrial protocols.
- Plan and deliver training sessions, workshops, webinars, and technical sessions for customers, system integrators, and business partners.
- Collaborate with COPA-DATA's, local, regional, and global teams on initiatives, projects, and team-building activities.
- Support the sales team in technical meetings, demonstrations, proofs of concept, and proposal development.
- Document recommendations, test results, incidents, action plans, and lessons learned.
- Participate in trade shows, conferences, customer visits, and other technical marketing activities as needed.
- Support Professional Services projects that involve customization, utilizing the zenon API with custom C# programming.
Required Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3+ years of experience with SCADA, PLC, and/or DCS systems.
- Hands-on experience in automation or process project integration, execution, commissioning, or support.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, in an organized and proactive manner, in a remote environment.
- Customer orientation and the ability to work with end users, system integrators, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of client-server architectures, redundancy, industrial networks, and automation systems.
- Experience in using industrial communication protocols
- Hands-on programming experience in C# (.NET, Visual Studio) sufficient to support Professional Services customization projects built on the zenon API.
- Availability for domestic and international travel according to project needs.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, spoken and written.
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with Emerson Delta V, Rockwell Plant PAX, Historian, and/or other plant floor and enterprise systems, including hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical / life sciences sector (additional experience in food and beverage, automotive, power substation, or general manufacturing is a plus).
- Prior hands-on experience with the zenon Software Platform or comparable SCADA platforms (Wonderware/AVEVA, Ignition, Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens WinCC).
- Excellent communication skills and a consultative approach to understanding and clarifying customer requirements.
- Knowledge of SQL databases, virtualization, Windows or Linux operating systems, and industrial cybersecurity.
- PLC programming experience following IEC 61131-3 standards.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, data integrity, GAMP 5, and batch record/ISA-88 work.
