Aide Interventionist – Math

Primary Purpose:  

Provides ongoing support and educational continuity to students attending a campus identified for school  improvement. This position provides academic support and intervention that is in addition to the regular  education programs. 

Qualifications: 

Education/Certification: 

Bachelor's degree, to include credit in one of the following classes: Child Development, Psychology,  Sociology, or Education.

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

Works in alignment with the Campus Improvement Plan and adheres to the District's philosophy, goals, and  objectives as they relate to school improvement efforts. 

Observes and practices alongside the assigned classroom teacher(s) to learn and implement District  adopted, evidence-based instructional strategies and resources as well as District, campus and classroom  procedures.  

Provides classroom coverage and instruction during the absence of the assigned classroom teacher(s). Provides academic support and intervention under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher.  Participates in planning and implementing academic lessons and interventions. 

Integrates educational technology and multimedia resources to deliver lesson content and/or present  material clearly to students requiring academic intervention. 

Assists the assigned classroom teacher(s) with classroom management and operational tasks such as  grading, documentation, and student supervision.  

Encourages student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits. Presents a positive role model that supports the mission of the school and district.

Contributes to an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional  development of children. 

Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 

Compiles, maintains, and files all required reports, records, and other documents as required by school and  district policy. 

Participates in the discussion of student’s academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with  parents/guardians in accordance with campus guidelines and procedures. 

Communicates information clearly and accurately while maintaining positive and professional interactions  with students, parents, staff, and community members. 

Participates in professional learning opportunities for campus faculty and staff. 

Keeps informed of and complies with state, district, and school regulations and policies. Attends staff, department, and committee meetings as required. 

Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. 

Maintains regular, on-time attendance. 

Notifies supervisor of absence in advance, if possible, and has appropriate plans available when absent. Maintains professional dress and grooming as outlined by campus/district guidelines. Maintains a positive attitude toward school and district when out in public. 

Performs other supplemental duties as assigned. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.  

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: 

Tools/Equipment Used: Ability to use peripheral devices, high level language programming concepts, data  management software, and application development tools.  

Posture/Physical Demands: Prolonged sitting; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping,  pushing/pulling, twisting. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be  met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties  of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear, to use hands to finger, handle, or feel,  and to stand and walk. The employee is required to regularly lift and carry (less than 15 pounds). Specific  vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking,  grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders. 

Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45  pounds and over). 

Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an  employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Occasional district-wide travel to  multiple campuses, as assigned. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; emotional control under stress.
