Overview:

BookaBooth is seeking a detail-oriented Web Scraping Intern to help collect and maintain data on work-friendly cafés and coworking locations throughout the New York City and New Jersey area. Interns will utilize Book A Booth's existing web scraping system to gather information from multiple online sources, verify data accuracy, and ensure our database remains current and comprehensive.

This internship provides hands-on experience working with real-world data collection systems, web technologies, data validation, and startup operations. It is ideal for students interested in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related fields who want practical experience with large-scale web data collection. 

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize BookaBooth's web scraping system to collect café and coworking data from approved online sources throughout the NYC and New Jersey area.
  • Monitor scraping jobs to ensure data is collected accurately and efficiently.
  • Review and validate collected data, correcting errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
  • Assist in troubleshooting scraping issues and reporting bugs or website changes that affect data collection.
  • Organize and update datasets to maintain a high-quality database of work-friendly cafés and coworking spaces.
  • Work with the automation and software teams to recommend improvements to existing scraping workflows.
  • Document findings and provide feedback to help improve data collection processes.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Interest in web technologies, data collection, or automation.
  • Basic understanding of HTML, websites, or web scraping concepts is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets for organizing data.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Analytical mindset with good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn new software and internal systems quickly.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote startup environment.
