High School Science Teacher

Position Description

St. Peter’s School is seeking an enthusiastic High School Science Teacher to join our middle and high school faculty. We are looking for someone who is passionate about science, enjoys working with teenagers, and wants to help students understand the world through engaging, hands-on learning.

Potential course assignments may include:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Environmental Science

Final course assignments will be based on the successful candidate’s background, experience, and areas of expertise.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, student-centered science instruction.
  • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with the standards of the Diocese of Toledo and the State of Ohio.
  • Incorporate laboratory experiences, inquiry, and real-world applications into instruction.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and effective learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with faculty and participate in the broader life of the school.
  • Complete additional school-related responsibilities as assigned by the principal.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have a strong interest in educating young people. Prior experience teaching similarly aged students is preferred but not required.

Traditional and non-traditional educators are encouraged to apply. Candidates may include licensed teachers as well as professionals with backgrounds in science, healthcare, research, engineering, environmental studies, or other related fields who are interested in transitioning into education.

All candidates must:

  • Hold a current Ohio teaching license or have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a willingness to obtain the required teaching certification.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of science and an ability to communicate that knowledge effectively to students.
  • Possess strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Be able to pass FBI and BCI background checks.
  • Complete the Diocese of Toledo VIRTUS safe-environment program.

Salary and Benefits:

This is a full-time, salaried position with a 12-month contract and options for annual renewal. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
