Early Childhood Teacher (or Intern!)

Knight Hall School is seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood Education student or recent graduate to join our teaching team for the 2026–2027 school year.

This opportunity is ideal for:

• Students pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education who have completed at least 12 credits in early childhood coursework.
• Recent graduates with a degree in Early Childhood Education who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience while launching their careers.

The selected candidate will spend approximately 12–14 weeks in our Older Twos classroom before transitioning to a Three-Year-Old classroom for the remainder of the school year. Throughout the experience, they will work alongside experienced, degreed lead teachers as an active member of our collaborative teaching team. Our classrooms are staffed with one to two lead teachers and assistant teachers, providing excellent mentorship and support.

What You'll Learn:

This position provides meaningful, hands-on experience in a high-quality early childhood program, including opportunities to:

• Work under the mentorship of experienced, degreed lead teachers.
• Gain experience in a NAEYC-accredited program and participate in the accreditation process.
• Conduct child observations and assessments using Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS) and Teaching Strategies.
• Assist with lesson planning and curriculum implementation.
• Support classroom management and daily routines.
• Build strong relationships with children and families.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences.
• Learn best practices in developmentally appropriate teaching for toddlers and preschoolers.
• Collaborate within a professional teaching team.

Qualifications:

Current Students

• Pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Completion of at least 12 credits in Early Childhood Education coursework.
• Experience working with children under the age of five.

Recent Graduates

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education.
• Previous experience working with young children preferred.

Schedule:

• Monday–Friday
• Standard hours: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• An adjusted schedule of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. may be available to accommodate college class schedules.

Compensation & Benefits

• Student interns: Starting at $20.00 per hour
• Recent graduates may qualify for a higher starting wage based on education and experience.
• Paid time off and additional benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
