Part-Time Prevention Education Specialist

Position Title: Prevention Education Specialist (Part-Time)

Organization: Premier Education Services, Inc.

Reports To: Program Supervisor/Director

Position Type: Part-Time, Hourly

Position Summary

The Prevention Education Specialist is responsible for delivering educational presentations and prevention programs to students ages 8–15 in school and community settings. This position focuses on providing factual, age-appropriate information related to healthy choices, decision-making, leadership development, substance use prevention, vaping prevention, gambling awareness, social media safety, bullying prevention, and other youth risk behavior topics.

The Prevention Education Specialist is not responsible for curriculum development, counseling, therapy, case management, or disciplinary interventions. All program materials and lesson plans are provided by Premier Education Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver structured prevention education programs to students in grades 3–9.
• Facilitate classroom presentations, small group discussions, and interactive learning activities.
• Present information in a professional, engaging, and age-appropriate manner.
• Foster a safe and respectful learning environment that encourages student participation.
• Follow established lesson plans, program guidelines, and educational objectives.
• Maintain accurate attendance and program participation records.
• Communicate professionally with school personnel, community partners, and program supervisors.
• Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled programs.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with students and school staff.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as required.
• Represent Premier Education Services in a positive and professional manner.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with youth in educational, recreational, community, mentoring, coaching, or prevention settings.
• Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills.
• Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass required background checks and obtain all mandated clearances.

Preferred:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in education, criminal justice, social work, psychology, human services, communications, or a related field.
• Experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, or facilitating youth groups.
• Knowledge of prevention education principles and youth development practices.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and present for extended periods.
• Ability to move between classrooms, school buildings, and community sites.
• Ability to lift and transport educational materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

Required Clearances

Prior to employment, candidates must obtain and maintain:

• Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
• FBI Fingerprint Clearance (if required)
• Any additional clearances required by partnering schools or agencies

Work Schedule

• Flexible part-time schedule.
• Primarily weekday hours during school and after-school programs.
• Occasional evening community presentations may be required.
• Typical workload ranges from 5-10 hours per week based on program needs.

Compensation

• Hourly position.
• Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
