Summary:
Manufactures buffers and simple bulk reagents according to manufacturing procedures with limited supervision. Participates in process improvement projects while supporting manufacturing operations. Assists in the manufacture of controls and calibrators and completes batch records in compliance with cGMP requirements. Performs in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers. Handles weighing, transferring, and mixing of chemicals, performs product filtrations, and supports cleaning and steaming of steel tanks (CIP). Prepares glassware and steel tanks for sterilization, operates autoclaves, maintains laboratory equipment, monitors laboratory supplies, and supports daily laboratory operations while responding to emergency notifications and working flexible hours, including weekends, as required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators.
- Complete batch records in accordance with cGMP requirements.
- Perform in-process assays using spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers.
- Perform weighing, transferring, and mixing of chemicals.
- Perform product filtrations.
- Clean and steam steel tanks using CIP procedures.
- Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization.
- Operate autoclaves for sterilization processes.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters.
- Keep the department lead or manager informed of all operational issues.
- Monitor inventory levels of common laboratory supplies.
- Perform additional job duties as assigned.
- Respond to emergency notifications when required.
- Work flexible schedules, including weekends, as needed.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required and Associates degree is preferred.
- At least 2 years of laboratory experience.
- Basic laboratory skills and knowledge of laboratory safety precautions.
- Familiarity with Quality System Regulations (QSR).
- Experience handling potentially hazardous chemicals and human-source materials.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of and compliance with GMP, QSRs, ISO, and IVD regulations.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English (written and verbal).
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and other units of measure.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
