NPS / Historical Preservation Training Center - Southeast Regional Support Team
Description of Duties:
- Assisting a HPTC crew in offering skilled day labor services in the preservation trades, architecture, and project management fields to preserve and maintain our nation's historic resources
- Safely and accurately removing and replacing roofing
- Conducting window repair work involving replacing old window components
- Remove and restore log building materials
- Utilize paint to restore historic structures, both indoor and outdoor
- Flooring repair and replacement in old structures
- Each job will have safety plans developed and on site for employee safety to be maintained at a high standard
Qualifications:
- United States citizen, United States national, or a lawful permanent resident alien
- Must be 18-30 years of age (35 for Veterans with DD- 214)
- Has received a high school diploma or equivalency certificate; or has not dropped out of elementary or secondary school to enroll as an AmeriCorps participant and agrees to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to using the education award Agrees to provide information to establish eligibility and to complete a National Service Criminal History Check
- Moderate to heavy physical effort is required for this position, including occasional lifting or handling of objects over 40 lbs using proper techniques
- Standing or kneeling for long periods and will be required to climb ladders, work from scaffolding or platforms, work on uneven or angled surfaces such as a roof
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, climb and walk in all manners of environmental conditions such as rain, mud, and extreme heat or cold
- Ability to lift 50lbs, and willing learn historic preservation techniques
- Willingness to work in heat, cold, and elevated work locations
- Ability to commit to full duration of the position
