POSITION TITLE: Extended Day Program Assistant
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt (10.5-month position) August 24, 2026 - May 28, 2027
REPORTS TO: Auxiliary Programs Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
Applicants for the Extended Day Program Assistant position should present experience and skills with outdoor, playground, recreational and/or after school activities for children from age 3 - 14. This position is part-time (2:30-5:15 pm), after school, 12-15 hours per week.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
- Knowledge and understanding of and commitment to The Riviera Ridge School mission, vision and core values
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience working in summer camps or after school programs preferred
- Training and experience in early childhood, outdoor or physical education, recommended
- Able to communicate well with students, teachers and families
- Proven success at working collaboratively
- Collaborative, personable and thoughtful ability to interact with students, families, faculty and staff
- Positive, energetic, and friendly
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Promote student engagement by planning and organizing a variety of structured or free play activities including team building, arts and crafts, sports, and read aloud for multi-age children.
- Maintain a healthy environment for students by monitoring and managing student behavior
- Help children with positive social interactions and assist them in resolving conflicts
- Help supervise and track children checking in and out of the Extended Day Program
- Provide snacks and monitor snack supplies
- Model appropriate behavior in speech and actions
- Keep in close contact with the Auxiliary Programs Coordinator as well as the Associate Head of School for Teaching and Learning, Lower School Division Head and Middle School Coordinator.
- Attend professional development days, faculty and level meetings as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work in school environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- Occasionally bend, stoop, and squat
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
- Willing to work some evenings and weekends for school related events or projects as needed.
- Have current TB Assessment
- Must provide a clear fingerprint test and background check
- Have CPR and First Aid certifications or have the ability to become certified upon employment.
