Associate Dentist
Jesse Myers DMD Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is seeking an Associate Dentist for a long-term private practice opportunity in Staunton, Virginia.
This role is designed to grow into a full-time associate position, with a potential future buy-in opportunity for the right person after at least 12 months of successful full-time associateship.
The position may begin around 2 days per week as the associate schedule is built, but the goal is growth. We are looking for someone who wants more than a short-term job — someone interested in mentorship, comprehensive dentistry, patient relationships, clinical growth, and potentially becoming part of the future of the practice.
About the Practice
We are a well-established, out-of-network private dental practice with a strong reputation in the community, loyal patients, and current new-patient demand.
Our practice emphasizes high-quality, relationship-based care rather than insurance-driven volume. We value careful diagnosis, strong patient communication, conservative treatment planning, and long-term patient trust.
We also take a functional and whole-body informed approach to dentistry. We believe oral health is closely connected to overall health, including inflammation, nutrition, sleep, airway, periodontal health, and lifestyle factors. Our goal is to treat patients thoughtfully and comprehensively, not simply address isolated teeth.
Technology and clinical resources include:
- Digital scanning
- CAD/CAM dentistry
- CEREC workflow
- CBCT imaging
- Fotona LightWalker laser technology
- Ozone therapy
- Airway and sleep-focused treatment options
- Modern operatories
- Strong hygiene foundation
- Supportive team environment
- Established patient base
- Room for continued growth
Position Overview
This opportunity is designed to grow into a full-time role.
The associate may begin around 2 days per week, with additional days added as the schedule builds. For the right candidate, we are open to discussing a faster path toward 3–4 clinical days per week depending on patient demand, schedule capacity, clinical fit, and practice needs.
We currently have new-patient demand and patients waiting to enter the practice, making this a strong opportunity for an associate who wants to grow into a meaningful long-term role.
Compensation
Compensation is the greater of:
$800 per clinical day
or
30% of adjusted collections
This structure provides a stable daily minimum while the associate’s schedule is being built, with upside as patient flow and collections grow.
Adjusted collections generally means collections actually received by the practice for associate-performed services, less refunds, write-offs, patient credits, and agreed direct lab or major case-specific material costs.
Future Ownership Path
For the right associate, there may be a future opportunity to discuss practice buy-in.
After at least 12 months of successful full-time associateship, the associate may be eligible to discuss a potential minority ownership/buy-in opportunity. Any buy-in would be subject to mutual agreement, updated valuation, financing, legal documents, and continued alignment with the practice’s clinical and cultural vision.
This is not an automatic ownership offer, but there is a real long-term path for the right person.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal associate will be:
- Licensed or license-eligible to practice dentistry in Virginia
- Clinically humble, teachable, and growth-oriented
- Comfortable with general restorative dentistry
- Interested in comprehensive patient care
- Strong in communication and patient relationships
- Aligned with conservative, ethical treatment planning
- Interested in functional and whole-body informed dentistry
- Open to learning about the connections between oral health, periodontal health, airway, sleep, nutrition, inflammation, and overall wellness
- Interested in mentorship and long-term development
- Open to growing from part-time into full-time
- Potentially interested in future ownership
This position could be a great fit for a newer dentist who wants mentorship and a long-term home, or for an experienced dentist looking for a relationship-based private practice environment with future growth potential.
The associate does not need to already be trained in every aspect of functional dentistry, laser dentistry, airway, or sleep. However, they should be open-minded, teachable, and interested in practicing dentistry in a way that considers the whole person.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality general dentistry

- Support conservative and comprehensive treatment planning
- Help build patient trust and support the long-term reputation of the practice

- Daily guaranteed minimum compensation
- Percentage-based compensation upside
- Mentorship and case review
