Preschool Assistant Teacher
The Family Annex is a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool that is seeking an assistant teacher to work part-time (approximately 25-28 hours/week) with additional substitute work available for the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers should be available to work in the afternoons from 3-6pm.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist teachers in walking to/from outdoor play and supervising outdoor activities
- Assist teachers in dismissing children
- Planning and leading some small group and whole-group developmentally appropriate activities
- Carry out responsibilities for supervising and caring for young children
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, and teachers
- Assist in cleaning up and setting up
The candidate must have a minimum of a BA and experience working with groups of young children. All teachers must undergo background clearance through NYC DOHMH, provide an up-to-date medical form, complete required trainings, and be eligible to work in the U.S. This is an hourly paid position with paid vacation and time off; rate is commensurate with experience and education.
