Product and Software Engineering Intern

Most internships end with a slide deck. This one ends with your code running live at major international gaming events, in front of massive audiences, weeks after you write it.

RF Labs is reinventing live card gaming. Our RFID-connected smart tables know every card and every chip in real time. Our computer vision systems watch the action. Our software turns it all into automated broadcasts, live game data, and player experiences that have never existed before.

Our tech already powers dozens of card rooms, thousands of players, and new concepts like Showdown Social, our own eatertainment venue in Alpharetta. We are launching a partnership with one of the biggest names in live poker, and we are growing the team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Build and ship features in the apps powering live events: tournament management systems, player companion apps, and the tools our operators run the floor with.
  • Sit with the people who use what you build: tournament directors, floor staff, players. Turn what you hear into what ships next.
  • Help decide what gets built, not just how. You will write specs, cut scope, and argue for the thing you think matters.
  • Work with AI tools to get productive fast in a codebase spanning React, React Native, TypeScript, Python, and Rust.
  • Watch something you built get used at a real event with real stakes. No shelf-ware here.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • High agency. You find the problems worth solving and own them through the outcome. Some weeks that means writing code. Some weeks it means sitting with a customer, fixing a process, or making a call nobody else wanted to make.
  • Proven experience building software. Show us products, internships, open-source contributions, or personal projects. One thing you actually shipped tells us more than a resume does.
  • Product judgment. You have opinions about why software feels good or bad, and you can defend them. When requirements are vague, you would rather propose something than wait.
  • Comfort with real-time systems. Live events are unforgiving. The game does not pause while you debug. If that sounds fun rather than terrifying, you will like it here.
  • A fast learner. Our stack is TypeScript, React/React Native, and Postgres. Knowing any of it is a plus, not a requirement.
  • AI-pilled. You are fluent with AI tools and use them to learn faster, explore ideas, and ship better work. You still bring your own judgment, especially around product design.
  • Bonus points: you geek out over software architecture, broadcast tech, live data, or poker itself.

LOGISTICS

  • Location: In-person in Atlanta, splitting time between our Buckhead office and the Alpharetta venue. The venue is the product, and you need to be in it.
  • Duration: Minimum 12 weeks, with potential to extend.
  • Compensation: Paid, competitive hourly rate.
  • Start: As soon as you can. We move fast and we are interviewing on a rolling basis.

HOW TO APPLY
Apply with your resume. If you have built something you are proud of, include the link. It is the first thing we look at, and it tells us more than a cover letter ever would. We read every application.
