Product Engineering Intern
Meet Showdown Social, RF Labs' cards lounge in Alpharetta, GA. Think Topgolf, but for card games: groups grab a table, a Game Host walks them through interactive card games (no experience needed), and the food, cocktails, and energy keep flowing all night.
Under the hood, every table is packed with RFID tech that tracks every card and every chip in real time. It is not a restaurant with games bolted on. The game is the experience, and the tech is what makes it feel like magic.
Behind the in-person experience is a digital one: the app and web platform guests use to book, check in, follow the action, track their stats, and stay connected between visits. It is about to get a lot better. That is where you come in.
Here is the fun part: you will ship an improvement, then walk into the venue that night and watch a room full of guests use it. That feedback loop is the whole job, and almost no internship anywhere offers it.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Ship features end-to-end, from a guest complained about this last night to production.
- Hunt down bugs and polish the UI across the Showdown Social app and web experience.
- Make things fast: loading performance, mobile responsiveness, reliability.
- Build in our component library and leave the codebase better than you found it.
- Hang out at the venue on real nights, talk to real guests, and bring what you hear back to the roadmap.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- High agency. You find the problems worth solving and own them through the outcome. Some weeks that means writing code. Some weeks it means standing in the venue on a Saturday watching where guests get stuck.
- Proven experience building software. Show us products, internships, open-source contributions, or personal projects. One thing you actually shipped tells us more than a resume does.
- Detail-obsessed. You notice when something is 2px off or takes 3 seconds too long, and it bothers you until it is fixed. This is a consumer product, and the details are the product.
- A taste for polish. You care how an interface feels in the hand, not just whether it works. Design sensibility is a real advantage in this role.
- A fast learner. Our stack is TypeScript, React/React Native, and Postgres. Knowing any of it is a plus, not a requirement.
- AI-pilled. You are fluent with AI tools and use them to learn faster, explore ideas, and ship better work. You still bring your own judgment, especially around product design.
- Bonus points: you geek out over consumer product design, mobile performance, hospitality tech, or games of any kind.
LOGISTICS
- Location: In-person in Atlanta, splitting time between our Buckhead office and the Alpharetta venue. The venue is the product, and you need to be in it. Expect some evening and weekend hours, because that is when the room is full.
- Duration: Minimum 12 weeks, with potential to extend.
- Compensation: Paid, competitive hourly rate.
- Start: As soon as you can. We move fast and we are interviewing on a rolling basis.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply with your resume. If you have built something you are proud of, include the link. It is the first thing we look at, and it tells us more than a cover letter ever would. We read every application.
