We are seeking a motivated Civil CAD Designer to join our growing team in delivering resilient and sustainable coastal and public infrastructure solutions. This hands-on role is ideal for someone looking to gain meaningful experience preparing construction drawings for marine, coastal, civil, and stormwater projects while progressing toward a senior design or project coordination position.

You will work closely with engineers, environmental and permitting specialists, surveyors, and construction professionals to prepare accurate and constructible plans for seawalls, bulkheads, docks, boat ramps, shoreline stabilization systems, parks, drainage improvements, and other waterfront infrastructure.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D under the direction of project engineers
  • Develop plan views, profiles, cross-sections, construction details, grading and drainage plans, demolition plans, and site-layout drawings
  • Convert engineering sketches, survey data, field measurements, calculations, and design markups into clear and accurate construction documents
  • Assist with drawings for seawalls, bulkheads, revetments, piers, floating docks, boat ramps, dredging projects, shoreline improvements, and related civil infrastructure
  • Incorporate topographic, boundary, bathymetric, utility, and geotechnical information into project drawings
  • Coordinate drawing revisions based on engineer, client, permitting-agency, and contractor comments
  • Support the preparation of 30%, 60%, 90%, and final signed-and-sealed construction plan sets
  • Maintain organized CAD files, external references, drawing templates, sheet numbering, and project-document standards
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, record drawings, permit exhibits, presentation graphics, and bid documents
  • Review drawings for completeness, consistency, proper labeling, and compliance with established CAD standards
  • Participate in occasional site visits to document existing conditions and support design development

Essential Skills

CAD Proficiency and Technical Development

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience with or willingness to develop proficiency in Civil 3D
  • Ability to prepare accurate engineering drawings using sketches, survey information, calculations, and technical direction
  • Understanding of construction-document organization, drafting standards, scales, dimensions, layers, and external references
  • Familiarity with civil, marine, coastal, or structural drawings is preferred

Attention to Detail

  • Ability to identify drawing conflicts, missing information, inconsistent dimensions, and potential constructability concerns
  • Maintains accurate, well-organized, and consistent drawings and project files
  • Carefully incorporates engineering markups and confirms that requested revisions have been completed

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicates effectively with engineers, surveyors, environmental professionals, and other project-team members
  • Willing to ask questions, accept technical direction, and incorporate feedback
  • Team-oriented and comfortable contributing within a multidisciplinary engineering environment

Time and Task Management

  • Ability to manage CAD assignments for multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
  • Capable of tracking comments and revisions through progressive design stages
  • Reliable in completing assigned work accurately and within established schedules

Field Readiness and Flexibility

  • Comfortable participating in occasional site visits in coastal, marine, and active construction environments to understand project design

Technical Tools and Software

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience with Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu, and Adobe Acrobat is preferred
